Dr. Christian Grandjean, Chairman of the Board

(born 1958, Swiss citizen). Following his studies at the Credit Suisse International Banking School in New York, Dr. Christian Grandjean began his professional career at First Boston Corporation in USA and later on joined UBS in Switzerland. In 1999 he joined BCV (CH) as Managing Director and from 2004 – 2007 he was the CFO and COO of Christ Schmuck und Uhren AG (CH). Since 2007 Dr. Christian Grandjean is the Managing Director of CMG Capital GmbH, Engelberg (CH).


Dr. Thomas Egolf, Board member

(born 1953, Swiss citizen) Mr. Egolf specializes in technology-based industries. He started his professional career with Cellpack Ltd., a Swiss based industrial group, diversified in high performance plastic components, packaging and electrical and electronic equipment, and acted for 5 years as Managing Director of this multinational group. Subsequently, he served as General Manager of a medium-size international trading company in the field of high-performance materials and parts and manufacturing technology. From 1994 until end 1997 Mr. Egolf worked for a restructuring fund and developed as Chairman and CEO of Zevatech Inc., a US-based industrial group, to a top global player in the field of electronic assembly systems and semiconductor packaging technology. Mr. Egolf received a Ph.D. in chemistry and a MBA from the University of Zurich.


Jakob Blattner, Board member

(born 1955, Swiss citizen) Jakob Blattner is the original founder of Tec-Sem AG. He received his degree in mechanical engineering (Ing.EurEta) at the Technical College of Schaffhausen, followed by a concentrated study in Management and Business Administration at University St.Gallen. Subsequent to his studies in 1981, he founded his own engineering company. In the beginning, amongst others he developed Wafer-Loaders for Chip Assembly Equipment, while later on the field of activity shifted from Back-End into the Front-End of Semiconductor Manufacturing. He developed several next generation products and was always on the leading edge of the market, pioneering the area of wafer-handling for clean-room applications. He founded Tec-Sem Blattner AG in 1988 when he began to provide complete Automation Systems to well known customers in the Semiconductor Industry. Since June 2007, he acts as Chairman of the board and as a non executive member of the management team of Tec-Sem AG, contributing with his ideas and concepts in development of strategy and new products. Jakob Blattner is a registered inventor of several patents and patent applications in the area of automated Wafer- and Reticle-Handling.

Franz Zaugg, Chief Executive Officer

(born in 1968, Swiss citizen) Following his apprenticeship as a mechanical design engineer at Iveco Motorenforschung AG in Arbon (CH), Franz Zaugg focused his work as design engineer and project manager in several companies. All of these companies where manufacturer of processing or automation plants. In 1999 he began his career in the semiconductor industry. He started as project manager at Tec-Sem AG, in charge of reticle stockers and reticle automation. At that time Tec-Sem AG was one of pioneers in bare reticle stocker solutions. In 2000 he was promoted to Sales and Marketing Manager working very closely with his mentors Rodolfo Federici and Jakob Blattner, the founders of the company. In 2004 Franz Zaugg joined Schär Engineering AG. The target was to set up a semiconductor division still with a focus on reticle handling applications. In 2006 Franz Zaugg joined Tec-Sem AG again as Vice President Sales & Marketing. Key focus was to develop the cooperation with a Japanese partner and the worldwide sales and service organisation. After a short break out to Bosch Sigpack Systems Franz Zaugg is back at Tec-Sem Group AG as the new CEO. Within the entire career mainly at Tec-Sem AG, Franz Zaugg gained extensive experience within the semiconductor market with a high knowledge on wafer and reticle management solutions.


Olaf Faller, Chief Operation Officer

(born in 1968, German citizen) After studying the mechanical engineer specializing in automation, he began in 1996 his career in the semiconductor industry at the company HMReinraum-Technik GmbH, a wet bench manufacturer in Germany, as head of supply business. Due to rapid growth, he took over the management and the organization of the Department Production Planning & Controlling. In the wake of the merger with the SEZ AG on 03.01.2001, he was appointed to the head of service and after sales. Through the fully acquisition of HMReinraumtechnik GmbH into the SEZ AG on 01.05.2002, was the need for a global service support. The integration of the service department and securing of the know-how transfer into the SEZ AG was in his responsibility.
After the liquidation of the SEZ Germany GmbH on 30.06.2003, he was appointed to the head of materials management in the new founded AP & S International Ltd. Since July 2010 Olaf Faller operates as the new Chief Operation Office (COO) at the Tec-Sem AG.


Karl Meier, Chief Technical Officer

(born in 1970, Swiss citizen) Karl Meier has a master in software and electronic engineering. He has 25 years experience in software development and more than 15 years in project management and leading R&D departments. For over 10 years he ran his own company MSS Meier Software Solutions GmbH developing reticle stocker software among others. As a consultant and subcontractor, Karl Meier was working for Tec-Sem AG for 3 years. In January 2010 Karl Meier was hired by Tec-Sem AG as its new CTO.
